Delft & The Wooded City

There is an ‘olde world’ feel to Delft, its pedestrianised centre has a wealth of historic buildings lining its canals, each has its own fascinating story as the city was once the seat of power and the wealthiest part of the Netherlands. Wonderfully seen from a canal boat, pass Vermeer’s painting spots, ecclesiastic buildings, breweries, a venice bridge and a tower to rival the leaning tower of Pisa. The nearby city of The Hague, has many faces, its name means ‘wooded city’ stemming from the large forested parkland located right in its heart, it’s also the Royal City home of the royal family and seat of government with embassies, the Criminal Court of Justice or UN peace palace. Laden with artistic masterpiece’s and former palaces, wander freely through its cobbled squares and courtyards.
